Session Overview
Information coming soon!
The impact of climate change on human health is a growing global concern, with significant implications for populations worldwide with children and youth being one the most affected populations.
Climate change is expected to cause approximately 250,000 additional deaths per year between 2030 and 2050 due to malnutrition, malaria, diarrhoea, and heat stress alone. The direct health costs associated with climate change are estimated to reach between $2–4 billion annually by 2030, particularly affecting regions with weak health infrastructures, mainly in developing countries. This panel discussion will feature 4 HEY Ambassadors from Africa, Asia, the Caribbean and North America to share their stories on how climate change affects human health across their communities, the actions they are taking as champions and their call to action to global leaders at COP29.
