Bilel is Deputy to the Director Telecommunication Standardization Bureau (TSB), International Telecoms Union
"I have been working at the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), the lead UN agency for digital technologies, for over 13 years, currently as the Deputy-Director of the Telecommunication Standardization Bureau (TSB). I am responsible for coordinating and promoting telecommunications standards across different sectors, such as healthcare, transportation, utilities, and banking, with the aim of advancing universal connectivity and digital transformation.
With a PhD in Computer Engineering and 28 years of experience in the telecommunications industry, I have a strong background in research, design, development, testing, network engineering, and sales of data products and services. I have also contributed to the development of several international standards, holding 22 patents and serving as the editor of the MPLS protocol standard (CR-LDP RFC3212). Moreover, I manage the customer relationship with ITU members, partners, and stakeholders, ensuring their needs and expectations are met and their feedback and input are incorporated into the standards development process. My mission is to enable the sustainable and inclusive use of digital technologies for social and economic development."
