Ismail Iman

Screenwriter, writer, playwright, theatre curator. The member of the Union of Theatre Workers of Azerbaijan. The participant and the winner of international playwriting festivals and contests.

The play ‘Gardens of Astara’ was staged in 2022 at the ‘Sham’ theatre in Almaty, Kazakhstan. The curator and the organizer of the CHARACTERS Modern Drama Festival (Baku, Azerbaijan). The screenwriter of the short, animated film ‘Hadis’ (2023, Azerbaijan, USA, Czech Republic) which participated in the competition at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival in 2023 (Perspectives Short Films; Annecy, France). At the moment (November 2024), there are 9 feature films at the pre-production and post-production stages, the scripts for which were created with the participation of Ismail Iman, including a historical biopic ‘Taghiyev’ dedicated to the millionaire and philanthropist Haji Zeynalabdin Taghiyev (1838–1924).
