Adam Marple is the Co-Artistic Director of the globally recognized Theatre of Others and co-host of The Theatre of Others Podcast, reaching over 30,000 listeners across 96 countries and ranked among the top 5% of podcasts worldwide.
Adam has directed over 50 productions Regionally and Off-Broadway, spanning the Americas, Europe, the Middle East/North Africa (MENA), Australia, and Southeast Asia. He has staged over half of Shakespeare’s canon and frequently adapts classical works for modern audiences. His original and adapted works total 16, with his most recent production, Bright Light Burning, commissioned by the British Embassy Gulf Strategy Fund for the UN COP28 Climate Conference in Dubai. This piece was performed across key venues including the UN Blue Zone and the public-facing Green Zone. It was additionally invited to perform at COP29 in Baku, Azerbaijan. Previously, Adam directed The Earth Turns: A Climate-Inspired Performance for COP27 in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt. It was selected by The Global Stocktake as an official side event in the Blue Zone and later adapted as an audio play for COP28. Adam also founded The Sustainable Theatre Network, which promotes eco-conscious practices without compromising artistic quality.
He has held academic positions at prestigious institutions including LASALLE College of the Arts (University of the Arts Singapore), Universidad de las Américas Puebla, American University in Cairo, and the University of North Carolina School of the Arts (UNCSA). Additionally, he has directed or taught at the Lincoln Center Theatre, Actors Theatre of Louisville, Cincinnati Playhouse, and several global institutions, including Serbia’s CZKD, La MaMa Umbria, Kyoto University, Hong Kong Academy of Performing Arts, and Goldsmiths University of London.
A Viewpoints practitioner for over 20 years, Adam trained with founders Mary Overlie, Anne Bogart, and Tina Landau. His research explores expanding The Viewpoints as an interdisciplinary, transcultural pedagogy. His work has been published in Western Theatre in Global Contexts (Routledge) and Global Performance Studies. Adam holds a B.F.A in Acting from Wright State University and an M.F.A in Directing from Columbia University.
